Neil Curnow Award The Independent Arts Foundation, in partnership with the Helpmann Academy, is proud to announce Julia Vosnakis as the recipient of the 2025 Neil Curnow Award.
A Flinders University Drama Centre graduate, Julia has already made her mark as a performer and creative. She made her professional debut in Windmill Theatre’s Amphibian and co-founded The Corseted Rabbits, producing and performing in Di and Viv and Rose at RUMPUS Theatre. In 2024, she starred alongside Rebekah Elmaloglou in the feature film From All Sides, which premiered at Cannes.
Julia is passionate about diverse storytelling and is currently developing a Greek-Australian rom-com, The Disappointments, through the Helpmann Academy’s Elevate Mentorship program.
The Neil Curnow Award will support Julia’s professional development in Los Angeles, where she will undertake intensive training in screen acting, comedy, and improvisation at institutions including the Ivana Chubbuck Studio and The Groundlings.
Julia says: "This award is a pivotal step toward becoming the actor, writer, and producer I aspire to be. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity."

My experiences with the multiple projects that IAF has allowed me to work on have meant that I can expand upon my existing skills, as well as learning some new ones. – Kyle Dolan
Thanks to the funding and support from the IAF which allowed me to secure further funding which enabled me to upgrade my filmmaking equipment to make the highly successful film.
The funding from IAF allowed for a significant practical education for me as an emerging filmmaker. Kyle Dolan
Funding from the Independent Arts Foundation supported the debut launch of ‘Viewpoint’, an experimental multimedia art exhibition by tarndanya-based artists. Caitlin Möhr and Miles Dunne
I was granted the amount of $1000 to undertake the Bronze Age Casting Course and Open Access Residency at the Scottish Sculpture Workshop. My time at the Scottish Sculpture Workshop was an amazing experience, I have learnt more than I thought possible and created works for an upcoming exhibition. Caitlin Bowe
